After graduating with a B.A. in History from Emory University in 1991, Mr. Cohen earned his J.D. from the Emory University School of Law in 1994.

Mr. Cohen has extensive real estate experience, including the acquisition, refinancing and syndication of shopping centers, apartments, and raw land developments representing national and local tenants, landlords, retailers, and developers in more than ten states. He has actively negotiated and drafted all types of leases (including retail, office, and industrial leases from both the landlord and tenant’s perspective), licensing agreements, development agreements, reciprocal easement and operation agreements, and joint venture and partnership agreements. Mr. Cohen has represented both commercial lenders and borrowers in lending transactions across the southeast. He has drafted and negotiated legal formation, investment agreements and equity option agreements for various start-up companies especially several internet start-up companies. He also has experience in reviewing all matters affecting title to property, including reviewing boundary and ALTA/ACSM surveys as well as well as negotiating with national utility companies and governmental agencies for the granting and release of necessary easements.
Membership
Mr. Cohen is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Real Property Law Section) and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Cohen is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
