Mr. Dehner practices primarily in the area of land use, environmental law and commercial real estate, with an emphasis on regulatory issues associated with real estate transactions and general issues related to construction and real estate development.
Education
Mr. Dehner received his J.D., with Distinction, from Emory University School of Law in 1996. While attending the School of Law, Mr. Dehner served as an executive board member of the Emory International Law Review. Mr. Dehner attended Miami University (Ohio) as an undergraduate, where he received his B.A. degree in Political Science.

Professional Experience
Mr. Dehner previously practiced with the law firm of Hunton & Williams in its Resources, Regulatory & Environmental Law practice group. Prior to entering private practice, he served for four years as an Associate Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 4, Atlanta.
Illustrative Background
Mr. Dehner assists real estate developers, retailers, energy companies and manufacturing entities in providing diverse practical and legal expertise in the areas of land use, environmental law, government relations and commercial real estate transactions. Example representations include:
- Providing counsel to major retail home improvement company with regard to environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, remediation, and liability allocation associated with transactions and development projects throughout the U.S.
- Assisting developers with complex government-relations issues such as zoning and other permitting matters.
- Assisting commercial real estate clients with negotiation and drafting of leases and purchase agreements (including retail, office, and industrial leases from both the landlord and tenant's perspective), development agreements, reciprocal easement and operation agreements, and easements.
- Assisting regional power-transmission utility with regard to regulatory compliance issues .
Membership
Mr. Dehner currently serves on the Government Relations Advisory Committee of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Mr. Dehner is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is the immediate past Chair of its Environmental Law Section. Mr. Dehner previously served as a committee chair and board member for the American Bar Association's Section of Environment, Energy and Resources.
