Ashley Halfman's practice encompasses the areas of general corporate and business law, mergers and acquisitions, and securities.

Education
Ms. Halfman obtained her J. D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2002, where she served as a Notes Editor of the Georgia Law Review. She earned a B. S. in Biology in the Honors Program, cum laude, from Birmingham-Southern College in 1997.

Professional Biography

Professional Experience
Ms. Halfman began her career at Jones Day, where she practiced in the Mergers and Acquisitions/Capital Markets practice groups in both its Washington DC and Atlanta offices for almost five years.

Illustrative Background
Ms. Halfman has represented publicly and privately held companies in merger and acquisition transactions. She has represented issuers and investors in private placements and registered offerings of debt and equity securities, including venture capital transactions. She has experience in corporate formation and corporate governance. She has also assisted public companies with general securities compliance issues, including reporting obligations.

Additionally, Ms. Halfman has enjoyed providing pro bono legal services for several organizations. In connection with the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, she represented clients in administrative hearings before the D.C. Housing Authority and the D.C. Department of Human Services. She also served as the legal counsel for The Next Generation Foundation, an organization providing scholarships to students in the Mississippi Delta region. 

Publication
Ms. Halfman authored “Giving Offenders What They Deserve: Amendments to Federal Sentencing Guidelines Section 2G2.2, Addressing Child Pornography Distribution,” 36 Ga. L. Rev. 219 (2001).

Ms. Halfman is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Alabama State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
