Mr. Hicks practices in the area of commercial real estate, including acquisition, leasing and development for retail, office, industrial, mixed-use and like projects. Mr. Hicks also enjoys experience in the field of commercial real estate finance.
Education
After graduating in 1981 with a B.A. with high distinction in English (with a Concentration in American Studies) from the University of Virginia, Mr. Hicks attended the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with a J.D. with honors in 1984. While in law school, Mr. Hicks was a member of the Holderness Moot Court Bench, where he participated on the J. Braxton Craven Competition Committee. While in law school, he was also inducted into The Order of the Coif and The Order of Barristers.

Professional Experience
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Hicks joined the firm of Hansell & Post, where he practiced commercial real estate until the 1989 merger of Hansell & Post into Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. Mr. Hicks practiced with Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue until 1993.
Illustrative Background
In the course of his real estate experience, Mr. Hicks has been involved in a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions, including shopping center acquisition, development and leasing, industrial buy-outs, office leasing, and negotiation of sophisticated easement arrangements. Mr. Hicks has represented sellers, buyers, landlords, tenants, lenders, and borrowers in various real estate transactions.
Publications & Presentations
Mr. Hicks has spoken frequently at International Council of Shopping Centers conferences and at Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education seminars. He has also participated in several seminars for clients.
Membership
Mr. Hicks is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
