Mr. Houk attended the University of Florida where he received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1959. He proceeded to the University of Florida Law School where he earned his J.D. with honors and served on the Editorial Staff of the Florida Law Review.

Professional Experience
Mr. Houk served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps from 1963 through 1965. From 1966 through 1987 he worked in the corporate law department of Sears, Roebuck and Co. where he was Senior Real Estate Counsel and responsible for Sears real estate transactions in the southeastern United States.

Mr. Houk’s practice includes the representation of landlords, developers and retailers. He has represented department stores and/or developers in over 200 regional enclosed malls.

Mr. Houk has been a speaker at various continuing legal education seminars including the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Georgia Bar Association.

Mr. Houk is a member of the State Bars of Georgia and Florida. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Atlanta Lawyers Club, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. In addition to his legal memberships, Mr. Houk has been a member of Leadership Atlanta, served as President of the Mental Health Association of Metropolitan Atlanta and has been President of the Corporate Counsel Association of Greater Atlanta.
