One of the first groups in the nation to recognize the economical, social and community benefits of rehabilitating environmentally compromised sites to create new commercial development opportunities, practice area members are leaders in negotiating Brownfield agreements. Its attorneys take charge of all aspects of brownfield remediation for the firm's commercial clients, including quantifying incremental project costs, determining liability protections and coordinating the efforts of environmental consultants, remediation contractors, insurers and general contractors.

In the area of land use, practice area attorneys regularly handle tax appeals, rezoning petitions, variance requests, right-of-way issues, development of easements and response to condemnations. Our land use attorneys have served in major metropolitan government positions, developing critical experience and extensive contacts. Working together with the Firm's Real Estate Practice, our land use attorneys provide comprehensive legal services to real estate developers.

Representing Independent Power Producers and major industrial operators, the firm's Environmental and Energy Attorneys provide legal counsel on issues of power plant sitting, water resource use, regulatory compliance and air emission permitting. Practice area attorneys have provided comprehensive risk evaluation and mitigation services on a number of complex environmental and energy projects, and frequently draw upon our extensive regulatory contacts and experience to achieve client objectives.

Practice area members have significant experience in the negotiation and drafting of construction agreements for commercial centers, office buildings and warehouse facilities. The Firm has a license from the American Institute of Architects to rely on its construction forms and routinely represents owners in the resolution of construction related issues.
